Make a Financial Gift
Thank you for considering a gift to support UCSF, as we work to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. We are coordinating with colleagues across the Bay Area and Northern California to care for patients while also protecting the health of our faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors. As the COVID-19 outbreak expands, teams throughout UCSF’s hospitals, clinics, and research labs are actively monitoring and responding to the evolving situation.

Join a Research Study
UCSF researchers are leading a variety of projects related to better tracking the spread of COVID-19, finding therapies for the illness, and developing a vaccine for the virus. Whether you've had COVID-19 or not, you can help by participating in one of our studies.

Send a Message to Our Health Care Workers
Our UCSF Health staff is working around the clock to care for patients during the COVID-19 crisis. They would love to receive encouraging notes and drawings from kids (and adults!) during these challenging times.

Participate in a Blood Drive
As people shelter at home, there has been a critical nationwide blood shortage, which will impact UCSF Health and our ability to care for patients. UCSF is partnering with Vitalant, the largest provider in San Francisco, to address this growing crisis.
Here is are upcoming blood drives:
- Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
UCSF Mission Bay
490 Illinois Street, Topaz Room
Note: If you have recently been vaccinated with the COVID19 vaccine, you ARE able to donate Red Blood Cells. For 14 days after the vaccine, you are only restricted from donating plasma.
This blood drive is being hosted by the UCSF Blood Drive Committee. Please contact Katie Maniatis or Erica Tavares if you have any questions or if you would like to join future blood drive efforts.
If you would like to donate and aren’t able to get your preferred slot or all available appointment slots are filled, please consider donating at a blood center in the Bay Area of your choosing (Vitalant or American Red Cross).
Donate Personal Protective Equipment
UCSF is not currently accepting donations of personal protective equipment. Please check back as we will be updating this website should our needs change.
If you have questions about donations, please contact [email protected].
Industry Donations
If you are a member of a technical organization (biotech, pharma, etc.), and you have supplies you can donate, please contact [email protected] for a complete list of what UCSF needs and how to get it to us.
Food Donations
UCSF is currently unable to accept food donations. While we greatly appreciate the outpouring of support for our frontline staff, UCSF must prioritize donations directly related to delivering health care, and cannot receive, store or distribute food at this time. We encourage anyone who wishes to donate food to consider helping the broader community, including those who are food insecure and the elderly who may be home-bound.
